At Age 7, a child had their wish granted by Make-A-Wish® Illinois.  At Age 13, this same child wanted to be able to give another child the same feeling he had when his wish was granted.  At dinner one night, Zachary asked his mother, "How can I do more for Make-A-Wish®?".

And so the research began....

His Mother (Chairperson of A Million Dreams) wanted to do something that Zach could be involved in and also something that no one in McHenry County had done.  The chairperson searched on the internet for ideas.  She spoke to a number of individuals that had already had fundraising events in the area.  She sat down with them when She finally came up with The Masquerade Ball.  She came to them with the idea and how she thought about setting it up and everyone thought it was a great idea.  So, she set out to make it happen.

The Chairperson had some knowledge of fundraising events from her volunteering with Hospice and combined that with the suggestions from other fundraisers and the idea that she wanted a formal event that adults could have a good time at while raising money for a great organization like Make-A-Wish®.

Zachary takes part in helping with the mailings and at the evening of the event.  He speaks about his experiences and how the Wish made him feel and what Make-A-Wish means to him.  For 2016, he will be in charge of the candy table and help where necessary.

It brings both of us so much joy raising money for Make-A-Wish and to know that we are creating wishes for other kids.
